Kids Nutrition
As children grow, they need calcium for continued growth and
development of bones and teeth. Calcium also helps muscles—like the
heart—function properly, and keeps the blood from clotting.
For children, the RDA for calcium is three servings from the dairy
group. This makes up a part of a balanced diet. These servings may come
from milk, chocolate milk, yogurt, cheese, or various other dairy
products.
Dairy foods are the most abundant source of calcium in the American
food supply. Children will be able to easily follow the recipes in this
section that are chock-full of calcium. |
